About
Veena Dube Sharma's artistic education began 10 years ago at the Loudoun Academy of Arts in Leesburg, Virginia. While at the academy, she was guided by her mentor, Carmen Barros Howell, whose own work in sculpture influenced Veena to try different mediums as a form of expression.
Born and raised in India, Veena worked with local tribal children while pursuing a PhD in Child Psychology. Inspired by the ideas and concepts she both taught and learnt from those local tribal children, Veena expresses herself in the form of shapes that take on additional depth through the application of texture, color and light in terracotta and clay sculpture. Her work is often characterized by figures in thought, connected to the universe and looking for peace.
In a short time frame, she has produced a number of unique pieces, many of which are showcased on this website.
